When I study, I like to listen to light music, like the ones played in cafes. Today I listened to Tenmon’s works, who often collaborates with the Anime producer Makoto Shinkai. They haven’t made a lot of works but they focus on quality. The stuff they made had a great influence on me.
I have a high school classmate whom I still keep in touch now. We were friends, and guess what? We were born on the same day, in the same city. We also met each other in the same high school and share the same opinion about Tenmon’s music. Every time I listen that music, besides the plot of the anime, they’ll remind me about him too. Before we said good-bye to each other, he told me he wanted to be a biology scientist.
However, after four years when we met again, I found out that he couldn’t even graduate from school. He said after attending university for two years, he abandoned his studies and started to play piano. As he was learning music since childhood, now he is running a piano lesson shop near his school. Yeah I’m not sure whehter he can come back to Shanghai.
I felt sad and a little disappointed about his choice. How can he make a living just by relying on his piano skills? And why he gave up his dream. Also why he isn’t running forward anymore…
Like him, I left Shanghai unwillingly too. But I’ll not give up my goal I made in high school. Japan is my light house, no matter where I am, I’ll follow her tightly.
